Summary:
Chapman Technical High School of New London once stood where Bennie Dover Jackson Middle School is now but Carol Kimball, a former Chapman Tech student, remembers one special teacher she had there: Dr. Willis Umberger, a Yale graduate. He read Shakespeare and made English a wonderful learning experience. Carol also remembers when he and his wife Dorothy had their first child. Many years later, after reading an article Carol had written about him, he sent Carol the original copy of a poem she had written in his class.
