Summary:
The Sakamaki Midget suicide sub, commanded by Sub-Lt. Kazuo Sakamaki and Petty Officer Kiyashi Inagaki, was rescued after the sneak attack on Pearl Harbor and exhibited at Electric Boat as a secret weapon against America. Five of these midgets had been sent to Pearl Harbor by the Imperial Japanese Navy. The HA 8 midget sub was also exhibited at EB. None of the midget subs destroyed American naval vessels and only Commander Sakamaki survived their attack. His family felt disgraced by his survival. Inagaki was found dead of self inflicted wounds. Sakamaki would, many years later after imprisonment in Texas, be returned to Japan to become a folk hero and an executive for Toyota.
