Summary:
After the obligatory breakfast at the Crocker House, Harvard-Yale boat races in 1889 had the crew taking up their usual quarters in their Gales Ferry camps in min-June to prepare for their classic race on June 28. That year they were also joined by crews from Cornell, Columbia, and the University of Pennsylvania. It was Cornell's eighth trip to New London. Oatmeal was piled in soup plates, platters of rare steak, chops, roast beef, mutton, chicken, toast, mashed potatoes and more fed the hearty eating crews.
