Date:
ND
Scope & Content:
Typed note on comments by Dr. Eliot (ordained about 1709), saying Habanausset indians did not exceed dozen families when he first came. Biggest Indian town was Pequannuck at Stratfield. Montaugh (Sachem) lived there & died about 1735. Shooran, his brother & successor, died Oct. 1761. Shooran in 1735 leased all indian lands for 999 years to Mr. Lewis. (From conversation w/ Hurd Post)
