Summary:
The Old Neptune Building at State and Bank Streets was demolished in June 1967. Built at the turn of the century as a fishmarket, it was never used for that purpose. In World War I, the Salvation Army used it as a hotel for servicemen. The clothing store, E.D. Steele occupied the lower level and the top three floors served as a hotel and rooming house. The city sold the land in1898. G.M. Long and Co. erected the Neptune.
