Summary:
Carol Kimball remembers Christmas seasons when she was growing up in Quaker Hill. There were no Christmas decorations in stores as early as Halloween and Christmas carols were never heard during Thanksgiving. Early December she and her father would go into the woods looking for Princess Pine, which he called "Creeping Charley". The tree, purchased from Ginsberg's store, was put up on December 24th. A good tree cost one dollar. They made paper chains, popcorn chains and there were boxes of hand-blown glass ornaments. Carol's favorites were the pink peacocks and the Santas. The lighted tree was a delight that lasted until New Year's Day when the ornaments went back in the attic for another year.
