Summary:
The Boston Floating Hospital was a unique institution created as a private medical charity that also escaped the city heat of New England summers. A chemist on the Floating Hospital developed the baby formula Similac and the staff also pioneered the "whole child" concept. The Floating Hosptial still exists but now it is on land and it's the air conditioned pediatric teaching hospital for Tufts University School of Medicine.
