Summary:
In the spring of 1915, Groton's Smith Lake Cemetery was moved, caskets, skeletons, gravestones, monuments and all from the lake shore where it had been since 1721 to a new spot a mile or so down the road because the Groton Water Company proposed such was necessary in order to furnish fine drinking water for the newly formed Borough of Groton.
