Timothy Whipple of Mystic remembers the peace meetings well and recalls with joy the day he sold over 100 gallons of ice cream ot the crowd. He used to anchor the barge against the bank near where the road branched off to the grove. He was once told that this ice cream had made such a reputation for itself that persons from all over the state used to say "were going to the peace meetings ho hear the speeches, see the crowds and eat some of Tim Whipple's ice cream."
