Summary:
The temple, according to a picture that ran in The Day at the time, was originally open on three sides, the fourth being devoted to the platform. At each end, of the long building rose cupolas and the second story, smaller than the ground floor, was glassed in on all four sides. Attorney Philip Z. Hankey of 891 Montauk avenue, grandson of Zach ariah Crouch, the first president of the Connecticut Peace Society, remembers when he used to spend his summers with his grandfather and attend the meetings. At the time he attended, the meetings were held at Borrow's grove, a few hundred yards up the mystic river from the later meeting place where the remains of the peace temple now stand.
