Summary:
Knitting, once an old fashioned art, is in the news again. The Day recently ran a feature about Rosalia Soruco, who knit over 300 caps for the newsborn while the U.S. Post Office Christmas stamps this year featured panels showing four different Holiday Knit designs. Ida Craig was skilled in knitting and in hooking rugs, a true friend, she helped teach Carol Kimball some of these skills. After Pearl Harbor, Ida and Carol began to knit for the armed forces. The Red Cross furnished navy wool yarn and directions for making long-sleeved turtleneck sweaters for navy or merchant marine seamen.
