Summary:
The author of this article compares receiving election results in 1990, when the article was written, with the way citizens found out who won around the turn of the 20th century, specifically during the elections of 1896, and 1908. During this period, various clubs held election parties for their members, where food would be served and the winner would be announced. In addition, The Day invited citizens to stand outside the print office, where they posted updates. Today, it is easier to find out the results, but there are less festivities.
