Summary:
Carol Kimball recalls when Chautauqua came to New London and a big tent was pitched in the park. She supposes it was an outreach of the movement started at Lake Chautauqua in New York by Bishop J. H. Vincent in 1874 which developed from a two-week camp meeting into an annual summer educational and recreational assembly.
