Summary:
At the time of this article's publication, the First United Methodist Church in Mystic was celebrating their 150th Anniversary. The article give a brief history of the church and tells several stories of noteworthy events that occured through the years. These include a hurricane which demolished the building in 1938, and a fire which destroyed the church again in 1947. As the congregation celebrated the beginning of the anniversary year with a dinner, they looked back at all of the things that have happened in the church over the years with a sense of pride in their mission as an organization and what they have overcome.
