Summary:
The Mystic River Historical Society's 350th anniversary of Mystic's settlement hosts a house tour titled "A Stop in Time" and the chosen houses represent many of the first families. The date of 1654 as the beginning of Mystic is based on the diary kept by dairy farmer Thomas Minor. Early family names include Minor, Burrows, Packer, Fish, Denison, Stark, Wolfe, Morgan and Wheeler and thier homes will be part of the tour. But the most unusual is the octagon house built in 1850 by Albert Stark, a wealthy merchant who believed, along with Dr. Orson Fuller, that such a home was beneficial to the health and welfare of its dwellers.
