Summary:
Millionaire Morton Plant moved into his summer "cottage" at Branford House, in 1904. In addition to his extensive greenhouses he praticed agriculture at the Mather farm and Poquonnock lands purchased from Nathan S. Fish in addition to the Fish farm now referred to as Branford Farms. His model farms included Jersey and Guernsey cows that were milked by electricity in 1911. Work horses and poultry were kept at the old Mather farm. The farms were doomed after their patron died in 1918 but in 1931 the former Fish farm was acquired by the State of Connecticut for Trumbull Flying Field, now the Groton-New London Airport.
