Photocopy of published assembly records regarding Uncas claim that William Lord has taken more land than was granted him. In April 1669, Chapeto, a kinsman of Uncas, granted to William Lord an eight square mile deed of land that forms the present town of Salem. Uncas signed the deed with Chapeto. The assembly appointed Major Talcott to view the land.
