Various mimeographed and typewritten papers regarding types of Indian transportation. Birch–bark was used in land transportation as containers or wrappers to haul supplies and other possesions from place to place, as cradle boards for carrying the babies; as litters for transporting the sick and wounded or as biers to convey the dead to their graves, but its most important use uas in connection with water transportation. The birch–bark canoe was almost the sole vehicle for water transportation in the northern part of the northeast.
