When the settlers arrived in New London they found a band of Pequot Indians living at Nameaug. These Nameaug were ruled by Robin Cassacinamon who was at one time a slave of Gov. Winthrop. When he and other Pequots returned to Connecticut they were made vassals of Uncas. They were very unhappy about it because they were treated as captivesand inferiors.
