Title:
Anonymous excerpts concerning Uncas
Date:
ND
Scope & Content:
Typed transcription of excerpts dealing with Uncas. The first says that Uncas found himself an alibi when he sent his brother Wawecus off to chase down the Pequots who had escaped from him after the Pequot War. Uncas quickly went to Saybrook and stayed with white men, in order to say that he had nothing to do with the murder of the Pequots. The excerpts also claim that Uncas seized goods from poor white citizens, knowing that they would not complain to the government because they believed that the colony supported Uncas's deeds.
