Title:
Letter from Samuel Vetch to the Earl of Dartmouth
Date:
November 16, 1711
Scope & Content:
Mimeograph transcription of an account of the detainment of Indians at Annapolis. Vetch needed at least one hundred more Indians, hoping to get them from Major Livingston. However, the Governor of New England, not knowing about the need for Indians, had allowed the Five Nations of Indians of New York to be disbanded and dispersed. Vetch fears that they won't be able to get them to come willingly, because the French Indians have committed hostilities against them and they need to protect themselves at this point.
