Good Friday customs - In the 1500's, various residents left stipulations in their wills that some of their money be left to the poor and to less fortunate widows.
Easter- The most universal Easter celebration is made in Russia, where many people make a holiday of the entire week.
Chained books- The practice of chaining or locking books in a library was known to have existed as early as the 13th century.
Bridescake- A bridescake is as symbolic as a wedding ring in marriage. People from all classes make an effort to furnish an attractive cake at a wedding.
Christmas Day- The feast of the Nativity of Christ is celebrated on December 25, even though no tradition has ever existed which shows the exact date of Christ's birth. A Roman calendar of 336 A.D. has the first evidence for observance of December 25 as Christmas Day.
