Title:
Deposition from Abraham Avery to the government of Connecticut
Date:
May 14, 1739
Scope & Content:
Mimeograph transcription of a deposition given by Abraham Avery concerning the Indian fields that have "laid common" for several years. Avery and other witnesses confirm that the fields have been fallow because the gate that protected the lands has fallen into disrepair and many animals have gotten in and caused damage. The fields have not been planted because the crops would be a certain loss without a repaired fence.
