Title:
Attempts to kill or poison Uncas
Date:
ND
Scope & Content:
Mimeographed transcription of accounts to poison or kill Uncas. Includes accounts of Narragansett demands for 160 fathoms of wampum from the Mohegans, or they would go to war. Because of Narragansett aggression, the commissioners of the United Colonies determined Uncas would never be safe, and that he had the right to kill Miantinomo, but on his own land and in a manner showing mercy and moderation, not the usual indian way of torture and cruelty.
