Indenture, with approval of Christopher Avery, J.P., of Joseph Pelton, poor child, son of Rubin Pelton, to Paul Pelton, until he reaches 21, to be taught to read from the Bible, write a legible hand, cypher as far as division, art of husbandry, to be provided with meat, drink, lodging, clothing, at expiration of period to be provided with two suits of clothes, a small Bible, and his freedom. Signed by Selectmen and Overseers of the Poor, Groton, Joseph Morgan, Nathan Niles, William Morgan, and Paul Pelton, witnessed by Simeon Avery, Park Allyn, March 16, 1763.
