Summary:
A somewhat flippant description of the passengers of the Mayflower who arrived at Cape Cod in 1620. About half of the passengers were Scrooby Separatists who had left England for Leyden, Holland. Afraid of losing their British identity, they set out for America sponsored by investors who would pay for their expedition in exchange for goods from the colony. Author maintains Plymouth was of minor importance, but got "puffed up by Mayflower descendants, tourist trappers, and bad poets."
