Summary:
Robert E. Peary and his wife Josephine Diebitsch Peary welcome the birth of their daughter, Marie Ahnighito Peary, Sept. 12, 1903 in Bowdoin Bay, Greenland. Eskimo natives travel for miles to see the "white" baby they nick-named "Snowbaby" or "Ah-poo Mickaninny". Before the second Artic winter, the snowbaby and her mother returned to Philadelphia taking nurse Susan Cross and Eskimo nurse Miss Bill or Billy Bah with them. Marie would visit her father in the Artic several times and write a book about her Artic adventures.
