Summary:
A friend loaned Carol Kimball a 1911 pamphlet published by the United States Geological Survey entitled, The Granites of Connecticut. Groton, Waterford and Westerly had quarries of pure granite. Waterford had Millstone, operated by Henry Gardiner. Booth Brothers had a quarry in Waterford. Quaker Hill had two quarries. Groton's most prominent quarry was on the Thames River near the ferry landing and another quarry was located in the middle of downtown Mystic on Pearl Street.
