Summary:
Italian aviator General Umberto Nobile and Norway's Roald Amundsen cross the North Pole in Italian airship Norge. But Nobile, feeling Amundsen got too much of the glory, plans to repeat the trip, without Amundsen, via a dirigible named Italia. Although Italia crosses the North Pole, Artic winds blow the craft off course and shear the cabin from the gondola stranding the isolated crew. Amundsen and his five companions rush to help but they disappear and are never heard from again. Others would later rescue the crew.
