Summary:
This article reports that an English bible that was given to the Mohican tribe in 1745 by Frederick, Prince of Wales, was being returned to the their descendants after being purchased by Mabel Choate in 1930 and given to the Mission House Museum in 1948. The inscription in the Bible states that it should stay with the tribe's successors, which is exactly what was being corrected at the time of the article. According to the article, the Mohicans fought with the colonists against the British in the American Revolution. The tribe was very thankful for the return of the Bible and gave the Mission House Museum a symbolic sculpture in return.
