Summary:
Howard Norman, who grew up in Michigan, learned the language of the Cree of Canada when he spent time in the Northwest Territories. Eventually he translated their tales and poems and published two collections in English. Most recently he has published a novel based on his own life experiences, called The Northern Lights.
