Summary:
Town historian Carol Kimball reviews the history of the Indian and Colonial Research Center in Old Mystic. It served as the Mystic National Bank from 1856-1887, and later the organization purchased it from the town for $1 to house the collection of research materials amassed by Eva Butler, which until then had been kept in her home on Gallup Hill Road. Kimball expresses surprise that the enterprise is still going. She and Kathleen Greenhalgh have presented a program entitled "The Woodland Indians" to countless school groups. In addition to Butler's materials, the museum houses such things as the glass plate negative collection of Elmer Waite.
