Summary:
The Presidential Yacht, Sequoia, built in 1925, came to Noank shipyard and was available to the public for tours. President Jimmy Carter sold the yacht in 1975, feeling that it was an unnecessary extravagance. In 1981 it was purchased by the Presidential Yacht Trust of Washington DC. A three-and-a-half million dollar restoration was completed in 1986.
