Summary:
Groton began as part of John Winthrop's Pequot Plantation in 1646 and will celebrate its tercentennial in 2005. Connecticut's only true battle of the Revolutionary War took place at Fort Griswold on Groton Heights and many famous and interesting characters called Groton home: Mother Bailey, Mary Jobe Akeley, Nathan Daboll and Captain James Monroe Buddington. A book of historic images of Groton will be published by Arcadia Press.
