Rev. Thomas Newton Dickinson Sr. began the family business of distilling witch hazel in the 1870s in Ledyard, Connecticut. His son and grandson, Thomas Newton Jr. and Thomas Leon continued in the business. Operations were set up on Joe Morgan's Pond in 1888, establishing the Ledyard brand. Explains the distilling process and where the mills were located.
