Summary:
New Year's day 1925, the Clyde liner Mowhawk, part of Mystic's Mallory line with sister ships Algonquin, Cherokee and Seminole, Commanded by J. H. Staples and a crew of 82, run into a storm and catches fire 70 miles south of Sandy Hook. After more than 14 nervous and uncomfortable hours, without any casualties, the passengers and crew are rescued and the Mohawk's seacocks are opened to let her sink in 40 feet of water on Fourteen Fathom Banks near the Delaware breakwater.
