Summary:
Inuit Eskimos, Hannah and Joe, accompanied Charles Francis Hall, who became known as Capt. Buddington, on his Arctic expeditions. Hannah is buried here in Starr Cemetery with her adopted daughster, Punna, and her baby son, Tukeliketa but Joe returned to his native land. Ken Harper found pertinent photographs in the John J. Copp collection at the Monument House Museum at Fort Grisold Battlefield State Park. Copp was left with power of attorney over Joe's home in Groton when Joe returned to the Arctic. This article explores who Copp, who died in 1914, was.
