Summary:
Mystic buildings destroyed in the March 2000 fire remain unreplaced whereas the original three story Central Hall built by Capt Mason Packer and Gurdon Allyn that burned in the Mystic fire of December 29, 1880 was replaced in eight months and without any of the medhanical aids used nowadays. The March 2000 fire was the fourth serious blaze at that spot. Floral Hall burned Dec. 12, 1863; Central Hall burned Dec. 29, 1880 and again on Oct. 11, 1920.
