Elder Nehemiah Dodge, pastor of the First Baptist church of New London from 1816 to 1821, was celebrated more for his pecullar personality and oddity of expression than any pastor who ever suplied that pulpit. Before he assumed the pulpit of the First Baptist church he preached all over the country, holding meetings in every church that allowed him to enter and every schoolhouse and hall.
