Summary:
Fond memories of Valentine's Day and the cards, decorations and flowers it encourages led Carol Kimball to explore the origins of the February holiday only to find numerous answers. Some say it is left over from the Feast of Lupercal, the Roman god of fertility, others tribute it to one St. Valentine, a Roman martyred February 14, 269AD and some say that young Charles, Duke of Orleans sent the first valentine to his wife in France when he was a prisoner in the Tower of London after the battle of Agincourt in 1415.
