Summary:
Carol Kimball remembers her early Thanksgivings with fricasseed chicken rather than turkey. Their cranberries came from Miller's Pond. Governor William Bradford's account of the first Thanksgiving included waterfowl, wild turkeys, venison, cod and bass. Bradford's is one of two contemporary accounts of the Pilgrim's Thanksgiving. The other is written by Edward Winslow. Neither Bradford nor Winslow mentions any desserts nor cranberries which would have required large amounts of sweetners; however, it is probable they had cornbread and small amounts of maple sugar and honey.
