Summary:
In 1726 the town of Groton, which once included what is now Ledyard, formed the North Groton Ecclesiastical Society who voted Ebenezer Punderson pastor in 1729. Punderson was a Yale graduate who founded 11 churches from New London to Hebron to Charlestown, R.I. and New Haven. Both of his sons were educated at Yale, his three daughters married Episcopal priests and his granddaughter Prudence Punderson created silk embroidery now owned by the Connecticut Historical Society. Laurel Thatcher Ulrich writes about Ebenezer in her book "The Age of Homespun".
