Summary:
Of the 155 defenders in Fort Griswold, 88 were killed, 35 seriously wounded and paroled and 28 taken prisoner. Each year the Friends of Fort Griswold Battlefield and the Anna Warner Bailey Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution mark the anniversary of the 1781 Battle of Groton Heights. We must not forget that freedom has a high price.
