Summary:
George L. Corey died very suddenly at his residence in Ledyard Monday morning, Jan. 17. Friends were shocked to hear of his death, although they knew it might be expected at any time. The Funeral service was held in the Congregational church Wednesday afternoon and Rev. G.F. Goodenough officiated. In later life he went to New York and was one of the national committee from New York state. He was appointed by President McKinley consul to Holland. He was twice married; his first wife was Carrie Tuck, daughter of Elder Tuck of the Jewett City Congregational church. He had one son by his first marriage. After the death of his wife and son he retired to private life. He then married Mrs. Sarah Lester of Norwich, the ceremony being performed by Rev. A.F. Purkiss of Norwich.
