Two Fall River Line steamers, The Plymouth with Capt. Elisha Davis in command and the sidewheel freighter City of Taunton commanded by Capt. John S. Bibber, collide near New London in the Race of 1903 . The Plymouth was repaired at the Fletcher Iron Works at Hoboken, N.J. and the City of Taunton was repaired at Noank's Palmer Shipyard.
