Summary:
Southeastern Connecticut has had its share of disasters over the years. Many residents will recall Hurricanes Sandy and Irene, and many will also remember the fatal crash on I-95 in 2007. Other tragedies include the Van Tassel fire on April 3, 1962, that claimed the lives of four firefighters, and the shipwreck of the City of New London steamer in 1871.
