Summary:
John Hamilton claims to be Grand Sachem of the Mohegans and is suing for 2,225 acres in Montville that he claims were taken in violation of the Indian Non-Intercourse Act of 1790. A Massachusetts court has ruled that a tribe has to prove "a loose but skeletal" form of government going back two centuries and that membership has not been assimilated. Jayne Fawcett has a petition signed by 150 Mohegans that say they don't recognize Hamilton as a leader and that they are voters and taxpayers.
