Summary:
Born in 1791, and known as the Sweet Singer of Hartford, Lydia Hunley began writting poetry to augment the family fortunes, to the displeasure of her husband. She wrote anonymously until she became so successful that her husband finally capitulated. 67 books were published before her death in1865.
