Summary:
Mary Virginia Goodman, born in 1898, the self-dubbed Duchess of Noank, was a popular guest speaker at historical societies and community clubs and celebrations and for 17 years, until her death in May of 1988, she wrote a newspaper column, Noank Notes, first for the Groton News and later for the Norwich Bulletin. She traveled far and wide and taught school at Noank, Fitch Junior and Senior high and those who enjoyed her humorous off-the-cuff speeches and columns can read a collection of her Noank Notes published by the Groton Public Library and Information Center.
