Summary:
Narragansett tribe is granted ownership of 900 acres of land in Charlestown, RI. Combined with an earlier 900 acres granted by the federal government, the tribe now has 1800 acres, 250 of which may be developed, according to the agreement. It also qualifies the tribe for Federal programs and $200,000 a year. RI governor Edward D. DiPrete signed over the land, which was seized in 1880 when the General Assembly abolished tribal authority.
